Roger Helle

Roger and his twin brother were born in Toledo Ohio. They were raised in a dysfunctional family and joined the Marine Corps right after High School. Roger served 3 tours of duty in Vietnam, where he was critically wounded and almost died. While Roger’s body recovered physically, he carried the emotional wounds from Vietnam for more than four years. With his marriage failing and his career as a criminal investigator in jeopardy because of his drinking, Roger and his wife, Shirley, surrendered their lives to Jesus Christ. Their lives were changed forever.

In 1994 Roger became the Executive Director of the Teen Challenge Center in Chattanooga Tennessee, where he served until 2017. He and Shirley also have served the people of Vietnam with “Vets With A Mission” making several trips to the country where he once fought. Roger has spoken to many diverse groups such as doing chapel at the Pentagon, the National War College, churches, schools and other venues across the country. His most recent book, “A Time to Kill, A Time to Heal,” has impacted thousands of lives. The Helles have been married since 1972 and have two children, a son, Joshua, and a daughter, Jamie. They are also the proud grandparents of five grandchildren.
