Sound Foundations Concert Orchestra Audition
Interested in auditioning for our Sound Foundations orchestra?
Thank you for your interest in auditioning for the Sound Foundations Orchestra! While anyone is welcome to audition, the music selections are very technical and advanced so the opportunity will be limited to those who are able to play this level of music well. Should you have any questions, please feel free to email us at [email protected].
Here’s what you’ll need to do:
1. Download the music selection for your instrument
As you look over the music selection for your instrument, determine whether or not you can play it well.
2. Print off the music for your instrument and practice until you can play it easily.
Note: Make sure you’re playing your music at a quick pace. Here is a good recording at tempo for reference.
3. Record yourself playing the piece.
Make an audio or video recording of you playing the audition piece on your instrument. Try to play it as close to the tempo of the above recording as possible. If there are multiple measures of rest in your part at any point, insert ONE measure.
4. Upload your audio or video file to a cloud folder
Upload your recording to a cloud folder, such as Google Drive or Dropbox, or to a private online channel such as YouTube or Vimeo, and get the link so you can include it in the submission form. [Please note: auditions are due 2 weeks before the start date of the course. Auditions submitted after these deadlines may not be reviewed.]
5. Submit a link to your audition recording
Send us your recording using this form at this link.
