In Deuteronomy 6, God instructs parents to demonstrate His love to their children and teach His words diligently. Parents are commanded to “teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up” (Deuteronomy 6:7).” Studies have shown that fathers play a critical role in passing faith in God on to their children. Sadly, in this day and age, many fathers have neglected this responsibility or simply dropped the torch altogether. It is time for men to take the lead and pass the torch of faith to the next generation!
Fathers, sons, and men of all ages are invited to the 2018 Men’s Conference, January 18-20. Join Gil Bates, Peter Magnuson, and others in Big Sandy, Texas, for an encouraging time around the Word of God. Peter will be sharing some of the lessons he learned from his father, the late Roger Magnuson. He will also explain the difference between faith-based, fear-based, and flesh-based parenting. The insights Gil has gained as a pastor and father of nineteen will help you pass the torch to the next generation. Other speakers will be sharing from their experience as sons and fathers.
The conference will begin with dinner on Thursday evening, and end with dinner on Saturday. Two airport runs will be made from Dallas airports on Thursday, January 18. Transportation from the Longview or Tyler airports will be scheduled as needed. Please email [email protected] for transportation requests.
IBLP will be hosting a Family Week leading up to the father and son conference. Families are welcome to come experience the “other side” of the ministry by serving alongside of the IBLP and IAA staff. For details regarding the corresponding Family Week, call 903-636-2000 or visit our website.
It is a special thing these days to have eight children and keep the hearts of each of them. As a matter of fact it is extraordinary. And coming from a son it is especially valuable to hear how that was done. Roger Magnuson had many gifts. He had many opportunities and serendipities! Yet Peter Magnuson knew that his lawyer/dean/pastor father, had a higher calling, as a parent, to capture and keep the hearts of his own sons and daughters for the Lord. Peter will share at the 2018 Men’s Conference the difference between faith-based, fear-based, and flesh-based parenting.
Family Conferences are an enjoyable time for the whole family! Fellowship with friends and powerful preaching make for a full week . . . but what about when you return home? Gil Bates shares five keys with fathers that they can take home with them and implement right away! As a father of 19 children, Gil has many insights that will help dads who attend the 2018 Men’s Conference pass the torch to their children.
Meals from dinner on Thursday, January 18, through dinner on Saturday, January 20, are included in the cost of the Conference.
