This year’s Family Conference theme is, “Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins” (I John 4:10). Brochures have been mailed and reservations by families are already being made for the 2018 Family Conferences.
Several changes have been made for this year’s conferences. The first change introduces a new location. Two conference sites remain the same: the Big Sandy conference in April and the Sacramento conference in July. The June conference will be at the Northwoods Conference Center near Watersmeet, Michigan. Often referred to simply as “the Northwoods,” many people have attended other conferences, Journeys, and events at this peaceful, remote center over the years. However, June 2018 will mark the first time a Family Conference has been held at this much-loved location. Within a week or two of the news getting out about this new conference location, half of the on-site lodging was booked. Rooms and camping options may still available.
Another new item will be introduced at the Big Sandy location. The breakout sessions have been popular. These special sessions are available for pastors, recently married couples, and single parents. Now, at the Big Sandy Family Conference, a track for older singles, aged 25+ will be offered. This additional option will hopefully be beneficial to those who choose to participate.
Another change involves the Big Sandy conference schedule. The conference will start one day earlier, with an evening session on Monday, April 23. This schedule change will allow for nearly the same amount of sessions, with the benefit of concluding earlier in the evenings. This schedule change is only for the Big Sandy location (April 23–28).
The Northwoods Family Conference is scheduled for June 5–9, and the Sacramento Family Conference will be July 3–6. As always, the conferences will host enthusiastic speakers, eager to share messages from God’s Word to encourage and motivate attendees in a closer walk with our Lord Jesus. Speakers include Dr. Josef Tson, also known as the “pastor of Radio Free Europe” and one who has been in and out of prison for the cause of Christ; Tim Lee, sharing his heartfelt testimony of God working in this Marine’s life; Larry Guthrie and his intriguing stories of God’s illustrations in nature; the encouraging Duggar and Bates families, and more.
